[ARCHIVED] Drop lots of Toys for Tots at the SWA

Toys for Tots

Bring a little cheer to the end of the year by donating a new toy to a needy child. The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s Administration Building (7501 North Jog Road in West Palm Beach) is a drop-off spot for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

New, unwrapped toy donations are welcome now through Wednesday, Dec. 14 during normal business hours. Toy donations can be either for a boy or girl, from infant age to 15 years. The hardest age groups to fill are both boys and girls age 0-2 and 11 and up. No clothes, stuffed animals, realistic looking weapons, or gifts with food are able to be accepted.

The goal of the program is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them into becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

For more information on the SWA’s partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots toy drive, call Aurora Ortiz, SWA Education Specialist, at 561-640-4000. A full list of Palm Beach County Toys for Tots drop-off locations is available online.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity is the fundraising, funding and support organization for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and provides support in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991.

The Solid Waste Authority continues to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources, our children. The SWA joined in the efforts of the Marines Toys for Tots toy drive in the 1980s. With the local community’s generous participation, the SWA toy drive has grown each year. Pictures from last year’s toy drive are available on the SWA Facebook page.
