Celebrate At The SWA Soiree On Saturday, April 11
~ 5K Trail Run, FREE Residential Document Shred, And FREE Residential Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off ~

On Saturday, April 11, between 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. as the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County will partner with two local non-profits - Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches and Resource Depot – and the City of West Palm Beach to host an event that shows how industry and nature can successfully coexist on the same footprint. It takes us all to do our part to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink for a sustainable future. The SWA Soiree and Run AWAY 5K Trail Run will reinforce the efforts of event attendees, who are doing their part by recycling at home and using one of seven Home Chemical and Recycling Centers, that businesses and industries are also doing their part.

The event will take place at 3 different facilities on SWA’s Palm Beach Renewable Energy Park, all within a short drive of one another on N. Jog Road.
1. The main event and 5K Trail Run will be held at SWA Administration, 7501 N. Jog Road in West Palm Beach. The Soiree starts at 9 a.m., the 5K Trail Run starts at 8 a.m.
2. The FREE residential shred event will be held at the Recovered Materials Processing Facility, 5860 45th St. in West Palm Beach starting at 9 a.m.
3. And, the FREE residential household hazardous waste drop-off will be held at the Home Chemical and Recycling Center drop-off, 6161 N. Jog Road in West Palm Beach starting at 9 a.m.

The Soiree is expected to showcase more than 50 exhibitors with innovative products or new ideas/technologies in all industries (auto, marine, retail, manufacturing, construction, government, etc.) so attendees can immediately use or apply what they experience. An auditorium program will feature a Recycled Fashions Showcase, for student designers to have their recycled designs displayed on the catwalk. Exhibitors and Sponsors are still being accepted. A full list of event details is available online.

The 5K Trail Run will take runners AWAY through the SWA’s e-Loop trail and the Grassy Waters Preserve Owahee Trail. Runner will experience the coexistence of industry and nature as they navigate through cabbage palms, cypress hammocks, marshes and lush pine flat woods, and catch glimpses of Grassy Waters Preserve and the facilities at Renewable Energy Park. 5K Trail Run Registration is $35 and available online. Group discounts are also available.

Participants at the FREE residential shred event can drop off up to 6 boxes of personal documents at our Recovered Materials Processing Facility, 5860 45th St. in West Palm Beach. For safety reasons, no participant will be allowed to get out of their car and watch their documents being shredded. New or replacement Blue and Yellow recycling bins will be available for pick up.

Palm Beach County residents can also drop off their household hazardous wastes for FREE at our Home Chemical and Recycling Center, 6161 N. Jog Road in West Palm Beach. Household hazards may include rechargeable batteries; mercury thermometers, fluorescent lights; pesticides and garden products; cooking oil; electronics; and paint.
