Project 2022 SWA Business Opportunity Forecast Conference
Virtual Event: Thursday, December 2, 2021 | 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s Equal Business Opportunity Office is hosting a Projects 2022 Virtual Business Opportunity Forecast Conference on December 2 to get more small businesses involved in the SWA’s purchasing opportunities. The purchasing opportunities to be presented are both for prime and subcontractor businesses.
The Conference begins at 8 a.m. with a virtual meet and greet and networking session. Participants will then engage in the main session where they will learn about:
- Projects and major purchasing opportunities in 2022 from the directors overseeing the opportunities;
- Benefits of being a registered SWA vendor;
- Benefits of being a Certified Small/Minority/Women Business Enterprise;
- Accessing a small business loan;
- Developing a business plan; and
- Winning procurement contracts.
The event will wrap up at noon.

Victoria Hughes, Director, Florida Women’s Business Center

Pamela Stewart, Small Business Loan Officer, Palm Beach County Black Business Investment Corporation
Pamela has 25+ years in business and economic development including 10 years as President and CEO of a CDFI. She has also held positions as the Director of the Florida Women’s Business Center, The Small Business Division Manager for the City of West Palm Beach, and a Finance Manager for an international franchisor working to assist new franchisees with obtaining SBA 7A loans for a large co-working franchise. She currently serves as the Small Business Loan Officer for the Black Business Investment Corporation and Pathway Capital Funding.
Amy Uong, Deputy General Manager, Sims Municipal Recycling
Amy Uong is the Deputy General Manager of Sims Municipal Recycling. Amy has been a sustainability and project manager for over 15 years working on various construction & sustainability efforts in NY, NJ and the District of Columbia. In 2014, she completed the opening of Sims’ $110M material recovery facility in Brooklyn, NY. Since the material recovery facility opening, Amy expanded her role at Sims to include managing capital and transition projects, business development, and guiding its Recycling Education Center.
