We process your recycling at our Recovered Materials Processing Facility. Your blue and yellow bin items are never mixed. We have a blue side and a yellow side of the facility and we further sort your recyclables into like items when they get here. We then bale these like items and sell them through a broker to mills and factories all over the world that take your recyclables and turn them into new things. To make this processing easier, it is important to put the correct item in each bin. The blue bin gets plastic and glass food containers less than two gallons, steel and aluminum cans and milk and juice cartons. The yellow bin gets newspaper, cardboard, school and office paper and mail. In fact, the items that go in each bin are printed on the side of the bin. You can also go to SWA.org/RecycleRight. If you are still unsure if an item should go in one of your recycle bins, throw it out.
