Pond Cypress

Pond cypress (Taxodium ascendens) is one of two types of cypress trees that grow in southern swamps. They are cone-bearing, like pines. Don't trip on the cypress knees! The purpose of these vertical root extensions  remains a mystery, with lots of speculation.

Did You Know?
