Home chemical products can be dangerous if not properly used, stored or disposed of. When these items are no longer needed, they're referred to as "household hazardous waste" or HHW for short.
Gas containers can be emptied and returned at the following sites ONLY:
N. Jog Road in WPB ORS. State Road 7 in West Delray Beach
Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Containers of gas can be dropped off at our other sites. However, they cannot be emptied and returned to you.
Concerns With Household Hazardous Waste
Anywhere along the disposal route -- from your curb to our facilities -- chemicals can present a threat to the public, solid waste workers, the environment, and solid waste infrastructure and equipment if not disposed of properly. Residents are encouraged to separate HHW from their household garbage and recycling, and dispose of it in a responsible manner.
Where can I take household hazardous waste?
The Authority maintains seven Home Chemical & Recycling Centers (HCRCs) located at each of the SWA's transfer stations, as well as one on the Jog Road campus. Home Chemical & Recycling Centers are convenient one-stop drop-off sites for both home chemicals and regular recyclable items.
All types of household hazardous waste. Quantity limits may apply.
Other Options Many big box stores and larger retail chains accept certain materials, like lithium batteries, CFLs, used oil, cell phones and electronics. Use the Where to Recycle feature on the Earth 911 website to find additional sites near you.
