Virtual Programming

Can’t make it to us? The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (SWA) offers virtual programs. These programs allow students to see how the SWA’s Integrated Solid Waste Management System works from their classroom. Each program meets a variety of Florida Department of Education Standards.  All programs are free of charge and available in Spanish.

Student programs are conducted Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., depending on the program selected. To schedule, please check the Education Calendar for availability and complete the Virtual Program Request Form.  *Please note, this is a request form and not a guarantee of a scheduled program.

SWA Virtual Tour

Students learn about SWA’s state-of-the-art Integrated Solid Waste Management System. Then, it is off to see how the SWA creates electricity from our waste. Participants focus on the SWA’s cutting-edge pollution control practices. After discussing all the different ways the SWA maximizes limited landfill space, students learn how they can help by practicing the four Rs (reduce reuse, recycle and rethink).  Students are also introduced to the concept of civic responsibility and how they each play a role in proper solid waste management.
